I am guessing the hard drive is inherently corrupted or the hard drive controller died.ĭid you already send in your system for repair? If not, I would highly suggest that you do so.I decided to replace my Dell M.2 SSD drive and was surprised at how easy it was to access the drive under the cover. Less than a week ago I talked to Dell support yet again and currently my laptop is being shipped to the repair center in Texas to be looked at again. I could get the crash to occur by closing the laptop lid for a minimum of 5 minutes. This problem would occur sometimes, randomly, with or without the BIOS error message “Hard Drive – Not Installed.” I had to restart the laptop by holding down the power button. It was just about a month ago that I would get constant BSOD with the stop code CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED. What is strange is the only repair done to the laptop was “fix hard drive heatsink.” I had no issues since then. They arranged for it to be repair and when I got the laptop back, I had no issues. This issue happened more frequently as time went on so I spoke to Dell support again. Initially, I would get “Hard Drive – Not Installed” roughly once a week, which was resolved by restarting the laptop a couple of times. I had no issues with this upgraded unit (which was a refurbished one) until about 3 or 4 months ago. I ended up receiving an upgraded, but same model Dell 13 9360.

This was the time that Hurricane Harvey was affecting the Dell repair center in Texas. I sent the laptop in for repair back in August of 2017. A diagnostic test through Dell SupportAssist revealed that the laptop failed the advanced memory test.

(Back in December of 2017) Everything was fine, and it was a great laptop until it constantly crashed and was essentially unusable. I purchased a from a little more than a year ago. (Well this thread is two months old but I am posting my experience regardless) Let me just start off by saying I am somewhat in the same situation as you.
